DANEEN & TAI HEATH, mother and daughter, are the proprietors of 5-12 Dessert, a black-owned bespoke cake and dessert shop in the Washington, DC region. We obviously can't get enough of one other because we live and work together. Is it just us, or are we completely insane? Would you be willing to spend so much time with your mother? We adore each other and share many interests: we're both creatives who enjoy ice cream, the color orange, and cuddly tiny dogs. We're both perfectionists, which is both a pain and a blessing; we believe in "KIC" (Keeping It Classy) at all times; we both take pride in being unique (we definitely march to the beat of our own drum); and we're frequently told we look alike...can you see the resemblance? With everything we have in common, the one thing we all adore is....CELEBRATIONS!! So it's only natural that in 2014, we'd start a company that offers a one-of-a-kind celebration experience complete with artistically made custom cakes, handcrafted cookies, and sweets that aren't just delicious, but also conversation starters!!
