About Altered For the Altar
Altered for the Altar is a one-of-a-kind modification experience that can't be found anywhere else on the internet. Our top goal has always been and will continue to be making our brides' dresses as lovely as possible. From the beginning to the end, we are committed to providing a smooth, contemporary experience. Because this is the MOST significant gown of your life, shouldn't it be an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life? We believe the same thing. Ruth began sewing for customers 33 years ago, although her interest in sewing dates back to a far younger age. Ruth's interest in design sprang from the hours she spent with her father, who worked on blueprints and engineering structures. Inspire by this, Ruth went on to become a "bridal architect," creating patterns, layering fabrics, and designing garment embellishments in what became a degree in all things bridal from the "school of life." Ruth made the decision to leave her day job to follow her passion for sewing and designing for weddings after she and her husband were married. Ruth, armed only with a sewing machine, a spare bedroom, and a positive attitude, took on any job that would allow her to further her professional development and abilities. The end of 1985 was the turning point for Ruth, who realized that bridal modification was no longer simply a hobby but something she wanted to pursue as a full-time job. Ruth was granted her first opportunity as an in-house seamstress at The Rose of Sharon, a tiny wedding boutique in Plano, Texas, because of her highly tuned talents in troubleshooting and problem solving, as well as her unwavering patience and perseverance. That bridal boutique closed a few years later, but not before she had established herself as one of the most reputable wedding seamstresses in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan region. Because of the backing of her equally creative husband, Rodney, she has been able to build her company over the course of 33 years into the preeminent enterprise that it has become today. The sale of Rodney's automotive business allowed him the opportunity to take over as general manager, which allowed him to oversee the construction and development of the current location...
