Avery House

We're Matt and Stevi Savage, a husband and wife wedding photography team based in the Chicago region. We started our company immediately after we married in 2008. Milton Avery, an American modern painter who lived in the early 1900s, was the inspiration for the name Averyhouse. We were moved by his poetic use of color and unique style, and we've always hoped that these same qualities would be reflected in our work as we capture our clients' most memorable moments and accomplishments. Our style is described as bright, airy, natural, romantic, effortless, and honest; a perfect blend of reportage and editorial photography. We believe in making photos that are both honest and candid, capturing the essence of a moment. We accomplish this by locating the ideal light in the ideal location and then directing our couples. We want to capture the emotion of what is happening between them rather than striving to be technically correct all of the time (though we can do both)! We want our graphics to be dynamic rather than static, and to be entertaining without being corny. We still employ that straightforward method because we started out as film photographers, even though we now use digital techniques that give us even more versatility.
