Be Boulder Photography

For me, photography was a happy accident: I got into it 15 years ago when I worked as the graphic director of SKI Magazine and budget constraints demanded that we take on more work in-house. Since then, photography has become one of my primary creative outlets. Something about it turned a switch in my head, and as a result, I finally began to focus more on photography than I did on design. I constantly worked on my photography skills by capturing pictures of my own family at home as well as the families of my friends. I found a lot of beauty in capturing moments that would otherwise be lost in the craziness of life, such as an open-mouthed laugh, a playful handhold, or a knowing gaze between a husband and wife. These are all things that would otherwise be forgotten. When I found out that my father had cancer, I asked a friend to take pictures of my family for me lately. Soon after that, he went away, and those photographs are now the items I hold in the highest regard in all the world. Every time I look at the pictures of him smiling with my two boys, which I have on my desk, I am overcome with the sensation that the connections we make in life are, well, the point of everything. I want to be able to provide the same gift to my customers, which is to seize the light that shines within each one of us and to gather memories that will become their most prized possessions.
