Berkley McGaughey Photography

Many thanks for coming to visit! My name is Berkley, and I have been working as a photographer in the South Florida area for the past several years. The path that led me to become a photographer is fraught with significance for me. When I was younger, my dad took me to Napa Valley for a vacation that included wine tasting. On the trip to California, I brought the camera that he had given to me for Christmas as a gift. I took some pictures of the flowers at the winery while we were having a good time together enjoying our time together. My dad praised my photography skills and suggested that I launch a photography business after looking at the pictures I took on our vacation. So I did! When I first started taking photographs, the majority of them were senior portraits. This eventually led to me photographing families, engagements, and weddings. Near the end of 2017, my father was given a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in the stage four advanced stage. I received a degree in Communications from The University of Central Florida, and in the summer of 2018, I decided to pursue photography as a career full-time after graduating from that institution. In the autumn of 2018, my father passed away not long after I received my diploma. Before he passed away, he shared with me that he believed I would one day photograph weddings. After a few months, I finally got my first wedding booking, and after that, I didn't want to stop. I was motivated to carry on by the intense agony I felt. The pain that I felt after he passed away served as a source of inspiration for me in both my photography business and my personal life. Making other people feel seen and appreciated is one of the things that brings me the most joy. During the vulnerable experience of having one's portrait taken, it is my primary objective to succeed in making each of my clients feel assured and at ease. The passing of my father taught me that images are more than just photographs; rather, they are a celebration of wonderful moments and memories that can be recalled for the rest of one's life. Because, in the end, memories are all that we have left, the work that I do inspires a great deal of passion in me.
