Boucherie's The Purple Truck

We provide approachable fine dining in a modern Southern setting. The Boucherie team has 10 years of experience in all facets of event planning and catering, from Boucherie's intimate dining room tucked away in a creole cottage on Jeannette Street or Bourree's courtyard overlooking Carrollton Avenue to off-site events at one of the many historic spaces in & outside of New Orleans, to festivals & block parties with our mobile kitchen: the Purple Truck, (the food truck where we began our business). You can choose from one of our many successful former experiences that have been adjusted to our private dining area, an off-site venue of your choice, or we can develop a unique menu just for you. The custom of a boucherie must have been as ritualistic to the original Cajun inhabitants of Southern Louisiana as Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest are to us today. Communities would get together at the start of the more challenging seasons to assist one another in finishing up their seasonal supplies created as a result of the feast made possible by all of the people there. In order to ensure that the rotation of the pigs that made up the celebration could extend through the winter, each household who took part in a Boucherie would take home a share of the hogs slaughtered during the festival. Boucheries continue to be celebrated in Southern Louisiana both as traditional, small-scale family gatherings and as the focal point of enormous festivals and celebrations.
