Central Square Florist

We used to be a small flower shop in the center of Central Square, managed by a dedicated family who cared deeply about their town. We're still here over 80 years later. We like to think of ourselves as one of Cambridge's early start-ups. In the 1940s, Morris Gamer bought the shop. His nephew, Myron Levine, and various cousins eventually began assisting him as a high school student. Myron worked weekends even after enrolling at Northeastern University, demonstrating the family trait of hard work and dedication. He bought the shop from Morris in the 1960s. Myron's wife joined the squad twenty years later (people still ask for her today). From the age of 12, the two nurtured their son David in the business, making him ring up sales and sweep floors. David attended Northeastern University, just like his father. He continued to work at the shop while in college, much like his father. And in 1986, with a newly earned bachelor's degree in business administration under his belt, David joined Central Square Florist full-time, much like his father. David immediately assimilated into Cambridge life, becoming an active and enthusiastic member of his community. And because Cambridge was also home to MIT and Harvard, that town was brimming with intellectual vitality and invention. David took a forward-thinking attitude to the shop in the 1990s, adding technology. Central Square was - and is - on the cutting edge of industry technology, while maintaining its neighborhood-florist appeal. Jackie, David's daughter, now works alongside her father, assisting in the management of the company, having grown up in it with him. She, too, has fully embraced the Cambridge community and loves a little technological innovation: she manages Central Square Florist's social media presence and also teaches floral design classes, allowing the business to truly interact with the community. After all, we've always prided ourselves on having a strong connection to our community and providing excellent service to it.
