Edges Wild Studio

Hannah Lowery is the owner and curator of Edges Wild Studio, as well as a nature enthusiast and lifelong artist. I tell individual human stories through floristry, which is my current medium and muse. I curate botanicals with emotive textures, colors, and compositions to mark our clients' most important milestones, leaning into the symbolic and weaving tokens and gestures that are meaningful to the people involved into every stroke of the work. Floral arranging in the style of "Folk Art Floristry," my trademarked technique, is rooted in sculptural complexity and composed with nuanced colorways, unusual ingredients, and surprising curio. It's punctuated by fly-aways that evoke movement, and while it tends to lean more masculine than feminine, it carries both energies, often in a delicate balancing act, throughout the day. A leaf, a root, or a branch that plays a central role in the work is often my favorite focal flower, and it is not always a flower at all, but rather some other denizen of the plant kingdom. I design with the goal of having the finished pieces exist in harmony with their surroundings; I want it to feel as if the work has always been there, growing into the landscape or urban architecture as if it had always been there, each component contributing to the telling of a larger ecological story. Weddings continue to be my bread and butter, as they continue to be the most common life event for which people seek out entire collections of fresh floral arrangements. And as a result of the fact that milestone celebrations provide us with an opportunity to center gratuitous beauty in our experience of a single day, my approach is to recreate the participatory, multi-sensory experience of a public art installation; something that you can step into and revel in.
