About Growing Wild Floral Co

In November 1996, Barbara Von Elm, the owner and founder, established Growing Wild Floral Company in Los Angeles, California. Cookie, her horse, provided the inspiration for the name while she was riding through fields of wildflowers on the trail. Floral arrangements were collected and placed in baskets affixed to the saddle before being returned to the stable. Whatever Cookie didn't consume was used to create floral arrangements for friends and family. Barbara's very first wedding ceremony took place on the side of the barn building. The design studio on Barbara's farm in Delaplane, Virginia, is where she now collaborates with a team of floral designers and assistants to create beautiful arrangements. Since its inception, they have collaborated on over 1600 weddings, with guest lists ranging from 30 to 300 people. A variety of venues are available, ranging from enormous, stylish downtown DC hotels and mansions to rustic barns and vineyards. After years of hard work, the company has amassed a large collection of hard goods, which includes a wide variety of styles of containers, arches, and chuppahs for use by clients. Barbara also grows a wide variety of trendy flowers and botanicals on her 65-acre farm, which she loves to incorporate into her wedding designs. Using locally sourced, high quality, organic flowers to enhance arrangements is not only a terrific way to go "green," but it also ensures that you get the most bang for your buck when it comes to floral arrangements. Blooming flowers planted on the farm include dahlias, dinner plate dahlias, peonies, lilacs, sedum, artemesia, hydrangea and succulents. Baptista is another type of flower that is grown on the farm, among other things. Floral arrangements and bouquets are freshly cut just before the wedding, ensuring that they look their best in your bouquets and arrangements.
