About Heslington Cakes
Cake Designer –Sara Heslington. Growing up Sara always enjoyed baking as a way to express creativity as well as bring happiness to people around her. It was while she was attending Rutgers University and getting a degree in Biological Sciences that she realized that she wanted to pursue baking, and particularly cake design for her career. After graduation she attended the Pastry Arts Program at The French Culinary Institute in New York City. As a student at FCI she graduated with honors and received the Outstanding Creative Pastry Project award. In addition to working in the cake world Sara has also worked at some of the finest resorts in the country. She was on the opening team of The Montage Laguna Beach and eventually worked her way up to the position of Assistant Pastry Chef. Following the Montage, Sara was also on the opening team of The Resort at Pelican Hill. While there she had the title of Cake Stylist and made all the wedding and special occasion cakes for all the restaurants as well as the banquet functions. Sara has also appeared on numerous Food Network Cake Challenges as assistant to James Rosselle and Ron Ben-Israel. She competed in the Surprise Engagement Challenge, Extreme Holiday Cakes, Last Cake Standing Series, Roller Derby Cakes and the All-Star Gingerbread Build.
