Holy City Strings

In Charleston, South Carolina, the violin and cello pair Holy City Strings plays for special occasions such as weddings, feasts, private parties, exhibitions at art galleries, and other events. For ten years, violinist Claire Gottshalk and cellist Anna Mathias have collaborated on stage. The duo has a passion for performing music from all genres but has a particular focus on classical music. Holy City Strings would be honored to perform at your wedding and would work closely with you to design a specific music mix that will set the mood for your occasion. Anna Mathias, a native of Charleston, has been learning the cello for more than 20 years. She studied music and played the main cello in the school's symphony orchestra while she was a student at Charleston County School of the Arts. She was also the lead cello for the Lowcountry Youth Orchestra at the time. Anna has participated in a variety of ensembles including chamber music groupings. She has shared the stage with both Michael Bublé and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Anna received her degree in public relations from the University of South Carolina, along with a minor in fashion merchandising. Claire Gottshalk has always loved music, but even at the age of 4 she knew she wanted to play the violin. She has been studying the violin for more than 18 years, starting when she was just 7 years old. After completing her education at the Charleston County School of the Arts, Claire enrolled at the University of South Carolina. A major musical pleasure for her was sharing the stage with Josh Groban. For 12 years, Claire and Anna have performed together at weddings and other occasions.
