Founded in 1987

J&L Catering has been part of Chicago’s catering community since 1989. With more than 30 years of catering and a life-long passion for great food and service, owners Ted Grady and Kevin Kelly continue to bring freshness and creativity to Chicago’s catering market. Catering- giving the customer what they need and what they want. This is an essential and basic statement of who they are. J&L Catering have lots of menus to choose from, but what do YOU want. What can they do for you? Their goal is to create a custom catering experience for their clients. Beyond catering, J&L supports many parts of the Chicago community. From education, homeless support, recycling, food donations, theater groups and the LGBT community among others, J&L Catering is proud to take part in the experiences of local groups and organizations that help Chicago thrive as a city.

Do you offer bar or liquor packages?: Yes, we offer a variety of liquor packages with the ability to customize based on our clients needs.
What menu customization options do you offer?: Our experienced Event Planners create menus from scratch in consultation with each client. As a boutique caterer, we specialize in customizing each event.
Do you offer tastings, and when would my tasting take place?: Yes, part of our menu planning process is to conduct a tasting. Tastings often take place prior to a client booking our services or once booked about a month before the event.

Ted Grady

Co-owner & Event Planner

Ted joined J&L Catering in 1995 and was hired originally as a waiter for a corporate account within the company. Quickly moving up the ranks, he settled in to full-time event planning for the company, where he has remained working with our social, corporate and private clients for over 10 years. He has designed events for clients around the country, but particularly loves working in Chicago. He works with clients on everything from intimate dinners, to weddings, to major galas!
