JBK Weddings and Events

My extremely Serbian family was big on traditional names, therefore I was given a name that most people have trouble pronouncing. When I first considered beginning my own business, I realized I needed to be known by my initials to make things easy for everyone, therefore JBK Weddings & Events was created. When I was 15, I performed my first wedding. During the war, a family acquaintance traveled here from Bosnia to marry the love of her life. They didn't have a lot of money at the time, so my mother offered to host their wedding at our house. I dived right into doing the decor and all of the planning. I took it upon myself to make their wedding cake from scratch, despite having no experience in cake decorating. I just wanted their wedding to be perfect in every way. The couple came in on the day of the wedding and saw all I had done, and their delight was what made me realize that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! Now, two decades later, I own and operate my own wedding and event planning company. I enjoy what I do because it allows me to be creative while also allowing me to make people happy. I'm reminded of the couple from my first wedding every time I see them. I look for that same face of joy in every couple I work with and at every event I organize. Every one of my clients is different, with various wants, needs, and budgets. Every day in the "office" is different, and I relish the opportunity to make each occasion a dream come true for my clients.
