Jennie Crate

When I was 21 and a senior in college, I met my wife. We immediately clicked, and I could tell we had something unique. It didn't, however, imply that our partnership would be simple. We decided to face years of difficulties as we came out to our family and friends because we wanted to navigate the world together. We spent a lot of time exploring who we wanted to be as individuals and the kind of life we wanted to build for ourselves as a result of the early hardships. We supported one another in trying times. We developed jointly. We yelled out loud. We embraced tighter. And we had faith in the path we were taking together. We were extremely deliberate about who we invited when it came time to organize our own wedding. We compiled a guest list from those who supported us, answered the phone when we called, and came to celebrate US and the lovely life we had established together. My goal with every wedding day I photograph is to capture the connection between us and our friends and family in the small moments that are captured in our images.
