"Since 2005 Marianne Drenthe has created beautiful, evocative imagery for some of Chicago's finest families. Marmalade Photography was created out of Marianne's desire to capture moments between families in a fun, organic and mostly photojournalistic style." …I would describe my event photography style as creative, organic and primarily photojournalistic. I am a go-with-the-flow photographer and I like to have fun with those I am photographing to ensure natural, fun loving expressions. Most everyone will agree that these natural expressions of happiness & joy transcend moments that are posed however I recognize the need to coordinate groups in those few moments when you have your family and friends gathered around for an event. While I specialize in photojournalistic capture you are assured that moments of important gatherings are memorialized in a beautiful way. I seek to capture the stories of the day - whatever stories that may be created behind the scenes in between a couple for their wedding day or to profile a 13 year old young lady on the biggest day of her young life as she embarks into womanhood or even to capture the love and caring of a couple for their one year old for a gorgeous one year birthday bash! When I photograph I seek to explore the story of who YOU are. Capturing for you spontaneity, joy and life's most touching and sometimes intimate moments. While I use the beautiful natural abundant light I am very comfortable with augmenting lighting with flash photography producing natural skin tones and vibrant scenes. ABOUT ME: I was about 5 years old when I lifted my brother's camera to my face for the very first time. I distinctly recall the roughness of the camera strap against my neck and the weight of the camera in my hands (even as it was supported by my worried brother ;) ). I was instantly captivated by the world that I could visualize through the rectangular box of the camera…eventually leading to my creating Marmalade Photography in 2005 for discerning clients throughout Chicagoland and beyond. Throughout my years my work has been published by National Geographic Traveler, Rangefinder Magazine, Professional Photographer Magazine. My work was featured in PHOTOGRAPHING CHILDREN by Ginny Felch (1st & 2nd editions). I have won several awards. I have written photography product reviews for Professional Photographer Magazine, both for online and print editions. I have trained photographers in the art & business of photography at my studio in the far Southwest Suburbs. Photographers from as far as Hong Kong have sought my counsel. I am the author of the www.professionalchildphotographer.com website. I have worked with clients to coordinate photography services for a variety of events and I was the main photographer for Baby Loves Disco - Chicago from 2008-2011 under Tiffany Sperling's direction. During that time I mastered lighting for very dark large venue spaces as those events were primarily held at the Metro in Wrigleyville. I have continued my photography education studying with esteemed fellow art photographers such as Jennifer Thoresen as well as many prominent photographers within the industry. I am a lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area. I also service the southeast coast of North Carolina in the Wilmington, NC area. I also am willing to travel for select event photography services.
