OUR STORY Andrew studied to be a physical therapist and I thought I was going to be a painting professor. We always knew we wanted to be in a position of service, to be helping others and being a meaningful part of people’s lives. We never would have thought that we would find that in wedding photography. Our love of photography began when we first travelled to Europe in 2010 with our 35mm film cameras and became entranced in the air and ethereal bliss of it all. There was a certain urgency… as if perhaps we may believe it all to be a dream if we didn’t have a way of preserving our emotions. As artists, we came from different backgrounds, I was a painter and fine artist, while Andrew was a musician. Photography became a form of art that we could share together. Our artistic background gives us an edge beyond composition or form because we treat each photograph as a work of art. We believe the most important element of a photograph, or any art form, is the story that it tells. It is not enough to create a “pretty picture.” A photograph should be like a painting… it should transport you into a time, a place, a mood. It should make you stop and stare for a bit and make you feel something. And even if you hadn't thought about it before, you feel the same. You don't want your wedding photos to feel cheesy or forced. In fact, you probably don't want hardly any photos that feel posed at all. You want candid photos of your friends laughing. Photos of conversations over candlelight, and stolen kisses from your spouse during cocktail hour. You want photos that you can relive all the joy and emotion of your wedding day.
