Miss Meliss Floral Design & Farm's creative director. Melissa got her start in the flower business in 2002, when she and her mother decided to attend some floral design lessons at SRJC. They fell in love right away and started with the floral program. Melissa's passion for art didn't stop there. Melissa relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a film and television makeup artist. She went on to M.U.D Burbank, California, to study beauty and special effects makeup. Melissa's passion for beauty artistry developed after that, and she returned to the Bay Area to work as a freelance bridal makeup artist. Melissa was invited to oversee a catering company's weddings and events in 2006. She rapidly grew enamored with planning and made it her full-time occupation. Melissa has worked with a number of vineyards and five-star hotels over the years, garnering a plethora of experience in the weddings and events business. Melissa would sneak in floral design for friends and family weddings during the planning process. "I'll always like digging around my garden and playing with flowers." It's extremely heartwarming to be able to use the flowers and greenery from my yard to create something beautiful that means something to someone else." Melissa, however, felt that something was still missing despite all of the delightful details that preparation can provide. "I've always enjoyed organising parties and weddings and will continue to do so. The quantity of distinct nuances that can be included in an event is something remarkable. I would jump at the chance to plan a friend's birthday party, baby shower, or bridal shower! I thrive on the attention to detail that events require, as well as coming up with new and innovative ideas. "However, I was still hungry for more!"
