Nancy’s Background: Nancy fell in love and refused to go to New York to pursue a career. She was trained as a fashion photographer with a studio in downtown Chicago and a degree from the Art Institute. Instead of moving to the Big City, she founded two flower shops in downtown Chicago, one in the Congress Hotel and the other in Institute Place, specializing in stunning floral creations. She has also worked in the restaurant sector for the past fourteen years, first as part of the opening team for Chicago's House of Blues and subsequently as an executive with Rosebud Restaurants. She did private parties, banquets, and seasonal decorating for customers on Chicago's Gold Coast and North Shore, but she always kept her hands in floral design. She recognized she needed to create another flower shop four years ago. Let's jump ahead to July 2011. Nancy located a fantastic corner site in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, signed a lease, hired painters, ordered a massive cooler, and placed signage in the windows.
