About Oak Leaf Cakes
Amanda Oakleaf started Oakleaf Cakes Bake Shop in the teeny-tiny kitchen of her Boston studio apartment in the year 2008. Due to the rapidly increasing customer base, Amanda and her husband Tyler decided to open their first storefront in Winthrop, Massachusetts, during the spring of 2010. The retail establishment underwent yet another round of expansion in 2013, when it relocated to its current location in Boston, directly adjacent to Symphony Hall. We come from humble beginnings and didn't have a lot of money or resources when we first started out, but from the very beginning, our constant and unwavering focus has been on achieving the absolute highest possible quality in everything that we do. There are times when the quality of our work is so high that it makes the national news. Since 2010, we have been featured on a variety of networks and publications, including Food Network, CNN, TLC, The New York Times, and a great many others. Because of the incredible cakes and desserts that we offer, Boston Magazine recognized our bakery with the prestigious Best of Boston award in 2013. Amanda & Tyler Oakleaf – Owners After completing her education in oil painting at Mass Art, Amanda took her passion for both the culinary arts and art and founded Oakleaf Cakes. Tyler attended Berklee College for music but has since transitioned into a great cake "engineer" and also runs a significant portion of the day-to-day operations of the business. Now that we have such a large and talented team of artists and bakers working for us, we are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field in which we work. Everything that you see on this website and in our store, including all of the cakes, all of the beverages, all of the baked goods, and even the store itself (right down to the tiled floor that you're walking on! ), was created by us, by hand, using the laborious method. Everything that we make begins its journey as flour, butter, sugar, and other unprocessed ingredients. Our cake does not come from any "magic boxes," as the phrase suggests. Everything from the buttercream to the marshmallow fondant to the gumpaste is made in-house by us. Everything. From the Ground Up. By hand. What is the result? Simply put, it is of higher quality. There are no hidden truths to be found here. No magic. There are neither abilities nor powers of any kind. Just hard work. It is because we put in more effort that our cakes turn out looking so much better. Because we make the effort to make the actual food ourselves as opposed to importing processed goods, the finished products, if they taste better, are a direct result of this. We are concerned about the quality of our food because we know that you are as well.
