Greetings, my name is Leigh Fischer, and I am the proud owner and florist of Posies Floral Co.—which happens to be the same flower business where I worked throughout high school. Yes, little did my 16-year-old self realize that, in five years and fresh out of college, I would be purchasing the business where I had previously worked during the summers. I consider myself fortunate that this period of my life has lasted this long, twenty-something years later. "If you discover a job where you don't have to look at the clock, you've found what you're supposed to do," my father used to say, and he was right. It makes me really happy to get up every day and be able to accomplish what I like doing. Because, after all, there's nothing quite like the pleasure you get when you offer (or receive) lovely flowers. I mean, sure, baby snuggles and margaritas are nice, but I truly believe that the work I get to perform is extraordinary. For those who are obsessively devoted to coffee creamer, aren't embarrassed to be seen with a woman who adores her minivan, can't carry a song but will sing at the top of her lungs nonetheless (or if you don't), I'd love to share some happiness with you.
