Equal parts magician and mentalist, Rmax's talents have impressed clientele including Google, Goldman Sachs, Sony, and Citibank, along with celebrities like Dolly Parton, LeBron James, and Barbra Streisand. Known for his expert sleight-of-hand, witty banter, and an approachable style, Rmax guesses things about his audience no one could know, like their PIN code, the name of their first crush, or the serial number on a bill in their pocket. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Rmax began performing professionally at the Magic Castle (an invitation-only club in Hollywood) at just 14 years old. - How would you describe your entertaining style?
- Whether performing Strolling Entertainment, an intimate Close Up Show, or a large Stage Show, I aim for a casual professionalism. I want guests to feel comfortable and relaxed. My magic and mentalism is designed for a smart, sophisticated audience and is absent of foul humor.
- How many years have you been in business?
- I started performing full time 7 years ago, but started performing professionally 17 years ago. And I started learning magic and mentalism 25 years ago.
- What is the backstory of your name?
- My parents named me Robert Maxwell Goodwin, but always called me “Max.” In preschool there were a bunch of Maxs in my class and one way to differentiate us was to put the “R” from Robert in front of “Max,” giving me the nickname “Rmax.” It's a longer story, but I have 30 characters of space here.
- Do you customize your performance?
- Most of my shows are customized in some way to each audience. And when appropriate, I will incorporate additional program content into my show. Let us know what you have in mind, and we can discuss what's possible and advisable.
- How much do you charge?
- My performance fees vary depending on the event, the location, and the date. I always suggest an entertainment structure specific to each event’s needs and the goals of the overall program. Given that specificity, I can only give quotes with an event in mind. Reach out and we can discuss your event.
