Founded in 2012
Since 2012, Root & Stem has served Washington, D.C. and the surrounding region with chef-driven catered meals and seamless, gracious service. Our approach to catering and events combines our chefs’ commitment to sustainable and local food sourcing with the desire to collaborate with our clients and create a memorable dining experience. Your personal team of event specialists will walk you through all of the details of your upcoming event, personally design your seasonally-driven menu, connect you with an additional team of vendors, and anything else to ensure that your vision is executed with grace and expertise. In addition to full service and staffed events, we also accept corporate and drop-off catering orders through our corporate catering division, Greenleaf, and are able to staff in-house catering teams for your whole building through Whole Harvest, our corporate contract division.

- What makes your catering style unique?
- Our menus are chef-led and designed with seasonal ingredients and local producers and farmers at the forefront. Our farm-to-table approach allows us to serve the best-tasting and most ethically and sustainably-sourced food possible.
- Do you specialize in certain types of cuisine?
- We are well-versed in many types of cuisine, including New & Traditional American, Italian, Spanish, French, Greek & Mediterranean, German & Eastern European, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Asian Fusion, Mexican, El Salvadorean, Central American, Southern, Southwestern, and Creole.
- Do you offer catering options to accommodate special dietary needs?
- Our staff is trained in and able to accommodate the big nine allergens (wheat/gluten, egg, peanut, shellfish, fish, milk, soy, nuts, and tree nuts) as well as special diets such as vegan, vegetarian, paleo, Kosher, and Halal diets.
- Do you offer bar or liquor packages?
- Yes, we are licensed to serve alcohol throughout the DMV. Our bars comes fully equipped with bar rental linens, risers, ice and ice tubs, mixers, glassware, napkins, and more. We have a number of bar options ranging from beer and wine service to premium liquor packages and custom cocktails.
- What menu customization options do you offer?
- Our full-service catering options are fully customizable to accommodate dietary needs, diverse tastes, and varying size and formality.

Lauren O'Leary
Sales & Marketing ExecutiveLauren is from Hilton Head Island, SC, where she first realized her passion for the hospitality industry. Lauren honed her skills as a host, server, and bartender while attending the College of Charleston before joining Fabio Trabocchi's restaurant group in DC. Starting in the bar team, Lauren moved into events and was later promoted to the group's Director of Private Events. She started her own event consulting business in DC before joining the team at Root & Stem.
