Julie Shanklin founded Syzygy when she recognized a need in the market for a premier event design company. Starting with just a handful of employees Syzygy now has over 25 full-time staffers. “We are not trying to compete with the giants in town; we want our style to be custom, not cookie cutter.” Julie recognizes that she is blessed to have the opportunity to do what she loves every day. She makes an effort every year to give back to the community that has been so generous to her. Last year Shanklin donated more than $200,000 worth of business to charity events, either offering her services for free or at cost. Syzygy’s modern aesthetic could be seen at the Washington Ballet Jeté Society’s edgy Dance Party and the Humane Society’s sleek Fashion for Paws runway show.
