The Late Risers

Sam Dechenne, a trumpet player and bandleader, founded a traditional Jazz quartet in the spring of 2014 to contribute to the revitalization of Boston's Downtown Crossing region. Since then, The Late Risers, a strolling "Pocket Jazz Band," has taken traditional jazz from the 1920s to the 1940s to the streets and corners of Boston and around the world. They have become a valued institution since they have become intertwined with the lives of those who live, work, travel, and go to school in this bustling urban neighborhood. The Late Risers perform "hot Jazz" music from the 1920s to the 1940s, as well as original compositions and covers of popular present melodies. The Late Risers draw smiles and dancing feet from their audiences whether they're performing at nightclubs, swing dances, Great Gatsby-themed costume events, parties, weddings, or roaming the streets of Boston. Simply simply, their music has the ability to bring people together.
