The Purple Pig has won various honors since opening in 2009, including being named one of Bon Appétit magazine's "10 Best New Restaurants in America" in 2010 and being a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recipient since 2011. Dana Cowin (former Cooking and Wine Editor-in-Chief) has dubbed Jimmy Jr. the "Prince of Pork," and he takes his passion of Mediterranean food to the Windy City in entertaining, imaginative ways – at this rustic sharable plate restaurant conveniently located on the Magnificent Mile. The restaurant, which is located at 444 North Michigan Avenue, serves cheese, swine, and wine, among other meals, that showcase the flavors of Italy, Greece, and Spain. Jimmy Bannos Jr. is a fourth-generation restaurateur from Chicago's Heaven on Seven neighborhood. Jimmy began working for his father bussing tables when he was five years old, and he learned the job firsthand while spending days at the family-owned Louisiana-style restaurant. He decided to attend Johnson and Wales University's College of Culinary Arts after realizing he shared his father's enthusiasm for food and the restaurant sector. He worked at the critically regarded Al Forno restaurant and did an internship at Emeril's in New Orleans with a friend, Chef Emeril Lagasse. Contact us about catering your event today!
