The Terrorium Shop

A taxidermist and a landscaper, Ian and Amber are partners in the Terrorium Shop. It all began with a curious little girl and an odd hidden pastime. Amber used to gather oddities when she was younger. Everything, including tiny, vivid flowers, exquisite insects, and broken bones. She started experimenting with reproducing these odd worlds as she grew older. Amber met Ian, a preservation enthusiast, a few years ago. The Terrorium Shop was founded after Amber gave Ian one of her creations for their first holiday together. Amber and Ian created one-of-a-kind pieces that illustrate the phases of decay and regrowth; death and life by combining their interests in preservation and their diverse skill sets. Amber and Ian used craft markets in 2017 and 2018 to spread their enthusiasm for conservation and the outdoors to the neighborhood. The odd couple in Denver's Berkeley neighborhood built their charming little brick and mortar in May 2019. Amber and Ian produce all of their household goods themselves. They use their dermestid beetle colony to process practically all of their animal products, pin and mount their own insect specimens, gather and dry their own materials, and create their own miniworlds. The Terrorium Shop blends unusual items from ethical sources with fresh flowers and indoor plants. Each month, a wide range of programs are offered to give people the skills they need to protect, produce, and enjoy nature right in the city.
