Yazz Events was established in 2010 by vocalist and bandleader, Amy Yassinger. With her undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Miami and an M.M. from Western Michigan University, Amy has used her education to surround herself with the most talented instrumentalists and vocalists in the Midwest. Her album, “Sometimes I’m Happy” is currently distributed on Warrior Records and has earned a ton of praise since it was released in 2011. Back in 2009, Amy led her first band called Amy and the Yazz Men, playing in cafes and clubs around the Chicago area. After numerous requests came in for Amy’s band for events, her small band Amy and the Yazz Men blossomed into Yazz Jazz Entertainment and then Yazz Events. It was at a wedding where she connected with a DJ and learned how crowds interact at weddings and what they are looking for musically that she decided she wanted to pursue creating music for weddings. Because over 65% of clients request a DJ, Amy hired several talented and experienced DJ’s to her team to enhance the experience of her clients. Over the past decade, her team has grown to over 50 members between her party orchestras “The Experience”, “Heat Wave Orchestra” and “Night Lights Orchestra” (all led by women) as well as small ensembles such as “Yazz Jazz Strings”, “Yazz Jazz Swings”, DJs and more. All of the musicians and DJ’s on her team have extensive performance experience including American Idol, The Voice, Cruise Ships, albums on record labels and more. The most popular package to date is the band/DJ combination, which offers clients the best of both worlds. Her DJs and sound engineers offer enhanced party package options including TVs on trusses, uplighting, moving headlights and more. What sets her team apart is that not only are they led by women, but they truly customize each and every event musically with the use of an online planning portal in which clients can choose “Must plays” and “Do not plays”. They are constantly adding new songs to their repertoire and love customizing song arrangements for first dances to make weddings the most memorable of all. They work on playing upbeat music while keeping it classy and fun for all ages and focus on keeping the dance floor packed all night.
