Newton County Recreation Commission

Newton County Parks and Recreation is a public recreation department serving the residents of Newton County, Georgia, centered around the 158-acre Turner Lake Complex in Covington. The complex features a 34,000-square-foot building alongside a 26-acre lake, offering a full range of recreational programming, sports facilities, and rentable event spaces for groups of all sizes. The department's primary event space, the Turner Lake Banquet Room, accommodates up to 250 guests and comes equipped with round and rectangular tables, chairs, a podium, sound system, projector screen, and a kitchen prep area with a refrigerator, warming rack, and ice maker. An outdoor patio and lawn area are accessible directly from the room. For smaller outdoor gatherings, pavilions across multiple county parks — including Turner Lake, Trailblazers, Denny Dobbs, Spring Hill, Beaver Park, and Dinah Pace — are available for daily rental with picnic tables, grills, and electricity. All reservations are made in person at Turner Lake Park. The facility is ADA accessible throughout, and the Newton County Parks and Recreation team can be reached at 770-786-4373.
