Salida SteamPlant

The SteamPlant Event Center occupies a restored 19th-century power plant in downtown Salida, Colorado, along the Arkansas River. The oldest section of the building dates to 1887, when the structure was built to generate Salida's first public electricity. After retiring from power generation in 1963 and sitting dormant for decades, the property was purchased in 1987 and reopened in 1989 as a performing arts and event venue. Today the SteamPlant operates as a multi-use cultural hub within the Salida Creative District, managed by the City of Salida. The venue encompasses several distinct spaces — a ballroom with an open floor plan and soaring ceilings, a flexible theater with professional staging and built-in audio/visual infrastructure, an annex suited for intimate breakout sessions and smaller receptions, and an outdoor plaza and riverside grounds along the Arkansas River. A full kitchen supports on-site catering, all spaces are ADA-accessible, and the downtown location puts guests within easy reach of lodging and dining.
