Sam's Chowder House opened in October 2006 along Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay, overlooking Pillar Point Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. Celebrated for its New England-style seafood, the restaurant has earned recognition from Food & Wine as one of the "100 Most Scenic Restaurants in America" and has been named the #1 Seafood Restaurant by Half Moon Bay locals.
Six private and semi-private event spaces accommodate gatherings ranging from 20-guest intimate dinners to 120-person outdoor receptions on the Beachfront Lawn. Indoor options include the Mavericks Room — a corner banquet room with windows framing the Mavericks surf break and harbor — and the Harbor View Room, which seats up to 54 guests with sweeping Pacific Ocean views and direct access to the North Patio. The Ocean Terrace offers an indoor-outdoor configuration with heat lamps, an overhead roof, and large sliding doors.
Outdoors, the North Patio and South Beach Bar provide oceanfront settings for lunches, dinners, and evening receptions, with optional tenting available on the patio. Sam's also offers full-venue buyouts and off-site catering through the Sam's ChowderMobile, which brings its seafood — including Lobster Clambake service — to locations of the host's choosing.
