Santa Barbara Zoo

Set on 30 acres of lush botanical gardens overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Andree Clark Bird Refuge, and the Santa Ynez Mountains, the Santa Barbara Zoo has been welcoming guests since 1963. Recognized as one of the world's most beautiful zoos, it operates as a private nonprofit and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. For private events, the Zoo opens its grounds year-round from 5 to 10 p.m., with early access beginning at 4 p.m. Two distinct venues — the panoramic Hilltop & Palm Garden and the flexible Discovery Pavilion — accommodate gatherings ranging from intimate 50-person meetings to celebrations of up to 1,200. Daytime events such as company picnics and family gatherings are also available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for groups of 10 to 300. All catering and rental coordination is handled by Events by Rincon, with options for animal encounters, exclusive train rides, giraffe feedings, and zookeeper talks available as event enhancements. Revenue from private events directly supports the Zoo's conservation, education, and animal care programs.
