In February 2016, we opened the doors to Brass Bear Brewing in the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara, CA, one block from the ocean, featuring our high-quality craft beer, rotating guest taps, wine, sparkling wine, and cider. Locally sourced ingredients are vital to our menu. Our menu comprises locally sourced charcuterie boards, tri-tip skewers, chicken, shrimp, occasionally shark, burger, and hot toasted sandwiches. During a cross-country National Parks road trip from New York to California, the Brass Bear name was born! Coincidentally, in our favorite park. We went camping in Glacier (the kind which involves signing your life away at the ranger station and being armed with bear spray). The late afternoon sun hit the bears perfectly and turned them into a beautiful brass color. They glanced our way and with a decisive grunt carried on. We agreed over dinner that night that this would be the perfect name for our own business one day, to remind us to face our fears and keep on trekking!

The resort's signature venue, the 20,000-square-foot open-air Plaza del Sol, delivers 180-degree ocean views and connects to a covered rotunda for ceremonies and receptions of up to 800 guests. The Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 700 for receptions, while the Santa Barbara Ballroom, Rose Garden, Reagan Room & Terrace, and Fiesta Room & Terrace serve more intimate gatherings. Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden is a 4.63-acre public garden in downtown Santa Barbara, California, occupying the former site of the historic El Mirasol Hotel. Established in 1977 and often called the "crown jewel" of the city's park system, the garden features an extensive botanical collection of 75 tree and plant species, a koi pond, a sensory garden with audio posts and interpretive Braille signs, a low water use demonstration garden, walking paths, picnic areas, and a classic gazebo. The park offers a reservable event space — the Arbor Area — a lush grassy area framed by a wisteria arbor near Arrellaga Street. The Arbor Area accommodates up to 100 guests and is a popular site for wedding ceremonies. Admission to the garden is free, and the space is managed by the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department.

Leadbetter Beach is a city-owned coastal venue in Santa Barbara, California, situated between Santa Barbara Harbor and Shoreline Park, directly across from Santa Barbara City College. Set along the Pacific shoreline, the beach combines open-air ocean views with a grassy lawn, outdoor showers, restrooms, and convenient paid parking in an adjacent lot — offering a relaxed natural setting for outdoor gatherings of all kinds. Three reservable outdoor areas serve events ranging from intimate ceremonies to group picnics. The Leadbetter Ceremony Area is a secluded, palm-lined grassy site overlooking the beach and Leadbetter Point, designed for wedding ceremonies of up to 60 guests. Leadbetter Beach Area West, situated just west of the Shoreline Cafe along the waterfront, accommodates up to 50 guests. The Leadbetter Beach Picnic Area, a beachfront group site at the west end of the parking lot, seats up to 65 guests and includes picnic tables and BBQ facilities. Reservations and permits are managed by the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department. Food trucks and trailers may be arranged in advance, and beer and wine are permitted with a reservation at the picnic area.

Four distinct event spaces accommodate gatherings of every scale, from micro-weddings of under 30 guests to full campus buyouts for up to 285. The Sanctuary and Parish Hall offer refined interior settings, while the Parish Courtyard — with its fountains and evening lighting — and the Jefferson Courtyard provide open-air alternatives for receptions and ceremonies alike. The Unitarian Society is open to couples and groups of any faith, background, or orientation.
