SteamPlant Event Center

The Salida SteamPlant Event Center occupies a beautifully restored historic power plant on the banks of the Arkansas River in downtown Salida, Colorado. Originally built in 1887 as a coal-fired electric generation facility, the building served the community for nearly a century before being acquired by a nonprofit in 1987 and reopened in 1989 as a cultural and event venue. Today it operates as Salida's designated cultural hub within the state-recognized Salida Creative District. The facility's industrial-chic character — soaring ceilings, exposed brick, and panoramic views of the Arkansas Valley — sets the stage for weddings, concerts, conferences, and private celebrations. Indoor spaces include the Ballroom, which accommodates up to 180 guests for seated dinners or 335 for standing receptions, and The Annex, a flexible breakout space suited for smaller gatherings of up to 60 guests. Outdoor areas, including the brick courtyard Plaza, extend events into the surrounding landscape. The SteamPlant provides built-in staging, professional audio/visual systems, and live-streaming capabilities, alongside an on-site kitchen, ADA-accessible facilities, and a dedicated venue coordinator for each event. The location in walkable downtown Salida places it steps from lodging, dining, and transportation.
