The Guard House is a historic 1906 U.S. Army building set within the National Historic Fort Screven District on the north end of Tybee Island. Originally constructed as the headquarters for soldiers guarding the post, the building was restored in 2007 to reflect its original Army post character and now serves as an event rental venue owned by the City of Tybee Island. The venue's buttercream yellow exterior features a sweeping wrap-around veranda that extends three-quarters around the building, offering a relaxed, shaded gathering space adjacent to Jaycee Park. Inside, two spacious, airy rooms showcase restored hardwood floors, original woodwork, and period details — including a decorative pressed tin ceiling in the back room. A fully equipped kitchen and ADA-accessible rear porch with an elevator lift round out the facility. The Guard House accommodates up to 100 guests and sits within walking distance of the Tybee Island Lighthouse and North Beach, making it a distinctive setting for weddings, private parties, and special events in a storied island location.
