The West Monitor Barn is a historic post-and-beam dairy barn on the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps' (VYCC) campus in Richmond, Vermont. VYCC acquired and restored the barn in 2005, and it now serves as the campus's primary rental venue, hosting celebrations, meetings, and conferences on a limited basis from late August through October. The barn's third-floor reception space, the Hay Mow, measures roughly 49 by 59.5 feet and accommodates up to 150 guests. It opens onto a private back deck and back field, and includes a prep kitchen, WiFi, a projector and screen, and use of round tables and chairs. A main lobby with elevator and stairs leads up to the space, and an on-site lot holds up to 40 vehicles. For smaller gatherings, the ground-floor Conservation Room seats up to 16 people around its meeting tables and is available November through April, with a Smart TV and whiteboards on hand for presentations. Proceeds from renting the West Monitor Barn support VYCC's youth development and conservation programming, which has trained young people in hands-on conservation and agricultural work since 1985.
