Wesleyan College

Wesleyan College occupies a 200-acre wooded campus in north Macon, Georgia, on the National Register of Historic Places, built around a central quadrangle of Georgian Revival architecture that traces to 1928. Founded in 1836 as Georgia Female College, Wesleyan holds the distinction of being the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women — a history that gives the campus its particular character as a setting for celebrations. For private events, the college offers an unusually varied collection of spaces: Anderson Dining Hall seats up to 350 beneath a vaulted ceiling with large arched windows; the grand Porter Auditorium accommodates 1,124 for concerts, ceremonies, and theatrical productions; Oval Hall in the Candler Alumnae Building brings ornate moldings and parquet flooring to receptions and luncheons for up to 250; and Pierce Chapel, opened in 2015 on a knoll overlooking Foster Lake, seats approximately 300 for weddings and memorial services, with a lower-level reception area for around 70.
