History Pelham Country Club began as a modest tennis club and five-hole golf course carved out of a cow meadow in 1908. Today, the club boasts a membership of over 2,000 people. When an influential member called Mont Rogers formed a corporation to purchase the site, he contacted famed golf architect Devereux Emmet to design a championship golf course. The course was completed in the summer of 1921. Pelham's golf course, which was created from virgin woodland and winds its way around and over rolling, low-lying hills, offers a variety of scenic panoramas of exceptional beauty. It is difficult to think that Manhattan is only 15 miles away, given the natural beauty of its surroundings, which is comparable only to an old English park. To serve as Pelham's first golf professional, Rogers brought in "Long" Jim Barnes, who was then ranked among the world's top three golfers, to work alongside the course's construction crew. One week after opening the new course, Jim Barnes went down to Columbia Country Club in Washington, D.C., and handily won the 1921 U.S. Open Championship. Barnes also won the inaugural PGA Championship, which was held at neighboring Siwanoy C.C., and was awarded the U.S. Open Trophy in 1921 by President Warren G. Harding, who also served as Barnes' caddie. Pelham Country Club became the epicenter of the golfing universe almost immediately. President Harding was appointed an honorary member of the Club, and Jim Barnes, the new "Pride of Pelham," was welcomed home with a spectacular gala hosted at the Club. Finally, in 1923, it was decided to stage the PGA Championship at Pelham Country Club, and what a fantastic championship it turned out to be. In attendance were all of the top golf pros of the day, and the fiercely-fought championship game, which pitted Gene Sarazen against Walter Hagen, has stood the test of time. It is still considered to be one of the most dramatic match play finals in the history of the Championship, with Gene Sarazen taking home the victory after an incredible 38-hole battle.

Alder Manor is a 72-room Renaissance Revival mansion in Yonkers, New York, designed in 1912 by the architecture firm Carrère and Hastings for mining magnate William Boyce Thompson. Named for Thompson's Montana hometown of Alder Gulch, the estate sits on more than six acres of classically inspired gardens filled with authentic Roman artifacts imported from Italy in the early twentieth century. The interior is defined by a succession of original architectural features: marble floors, walnut and oak paneling, a rare English-style trompe-l'oeil ceiling, a 15th-century Italian stone fireplace, an actual 16th-century Italian church façade incorporated into the structure, a three-story staircase, and an indoor tiled pool topped by a stained glass window. Many of the 72 rooms retain original Renaissance paintings and historic artifacts. The grounds command views of the Hudson River and the Palisades. In 1914, an Indian grave was discovered on the Hewlett estate of John N. Auerbach. Among the findings were skeletal remains, arrow and spear heads, and a large quantity of copper beads known by the Indians as“sewan”. Auerbach anglicized the name for the beads to Seawane, chose it for his estate, and then it was used for the founding of The Seawane Club in 1927. Landmark on Main Street is a not-for-profit performing arts and community center at 232 Main Street in Port Washington, NY. The venue is housed within a 1994 renovation of an 87-year-old former school building, transformed into a 25,000-square-foot complex that includes the 425-seat Jeanne Rimsky Theater. The Jeanne Rimsky Theater has welcomed performers spanning concerts, Broadway, folk, and jazz — including Rufus Wainwright, Graham Nash, Christine Ebersole, and Mandy Patinkin — as well as events ranging from speaker engagements and dance performances to meetings and birthday parties. The Bronxville Women's Club, Inc. occupies the Anna Lawrence Bisland House, a 1928 landmark in Bronxville, New York. Founded in 1925 and listed on both the Westchester County Inventory of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the clubhouse has served as a community gathering place for nearly a century. The club's Ballroom — described as the only midsize hall in lower Westchester — accommodates up to 165 guests and features a stage, making it well suited for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, concerts, and private celebrations. It opens directly onto an outdoor patio and garden with vintage street lights and a working waterfall. Smaller gatherings find a home in the Patio Room (approximately 25 guests), the Tea Room with its piano and fireplace, and the Loggia — a tiled entrance hall with a water fountain and Romeo and Juliet balcony.
