Colleton River Club is a private, member-owned community in Bluffton, South Carolina, set along the Colleton River amid Lowcountry marshes and Live Oaks draped in Spanish moss. Set on a 44-acre working farm in Clemson, South Carolina, Sleepy Hollow Barn & Plantation centers on the J.C. Stribling Barn, built in the 1890s as one of the first brick barns in the state and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The barn's rare bank-barn construction, decorative brick latticework, and jerkinhead roof give the space its distinct rustic-elegant character, with original timber beams and French-pressed brickwork preserved throughout. Weddings, corporate events, and family gatherings take place in the barn and on the adjoining Wedding Green, a garden ceremony space framed by ancient oaks and rolling pasture, with the historic structure as a backdrop. Chattooga Belle Farm is a 200-acre working farm, distillery, and event venue in Long Creek, South Carolina, overlooking the Chattooga River, the first river in the Southeast designated "Wild & Scenic." The property sits in a region once known as the largest apple-producing area east of the Mississippi River, and it carries that agricultural heritage forward today with U-pick orchards, a general store, and Belle's Bistro, which serves locally-sourced fare. Old Santee Canal Park is a 195-acre park in Moncks Corner that opened in 1989 to commemorate the building of the first true canal in America, with exhibits documenting the area's history and habitat dating back to 4000 B.C. The park sits along Biggin Creek's backwaters and swamp environment and is threaded with four miles of boardwalks, drawing bird watchers, hikers, and paddlers. The park's event spaces include the Stony Landing House, an 1840s plantation home on a bluff overlooking the Tailrace Canal with period reproduction furnishings on its first floor and a brick-paved, lit under-story for evening use, suited to weddings, receptions, reunions, and business meetings.
