Portions of the property trace back to James Madison, who once owned the land and named it Black Meadow; the Cuthrell family purchased the farm in 2003, restored the Manor House, Pond House, and barns, and opened it to guests in 2004. The farm's two barn pavilions host wedding receptions with a rustic, indoor-outdoor feel. The Cox Mill Pavilion, converted from a former equipment and hay barn in 2014, overlooks the horse paddocks, while the Black Meadow Pavilion, added in 2018, sits atop a ridge with views of the Southwest Mountains.
