The house was built by the Carothers family, one of middle Tennessee's largest log homes at the time, and expanded in the 1870s with added halls and a Victorian front porch. A 1974 restoration by Karen and John Noel uncovered the original blue-poplar log construction beneath later coverings, work that earned the property a place on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1983. Today the venue hosts more than 100 events a year, offering exclusive use of the house and surrounding grounds for weddings, elopements, showers, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, and celebrations of life.
