The Headlands Facility for the Arts is a multidisciplinary, international arts center committed to artists, the creative process, and the creation of new, original ideas and artwork. What we do is only as significant as where we are. Just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, at historic Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands, a component of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, our site consists of a cluster of artist-rehabilitated military structures. Facility Rental: Conveniently located near home, but a world away. Headlands is a one-of-a-kind meeting spot for a variety of events and celebrations. Individuals and organizations can use our facility for classes, meetings, conferences, photo shoots, weddings, and other events. Headlands' venues are great for groups wishing to connect, brainstorm, discuss, celebrate, and think creatively in a quiet setting, just fifteen minutes from San Francisco and convenient to North, East, and South Bay regions. Our campus is located within the 2,100 windswept acres of hills, cliffs, coves, and beaches that make up the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and is housed within artist-renovated 1907 period army barracks. Headlands' renovated and re-imagined historic military barracks have been the venue of several events that combine great cuisine, wonderful people, and a spirit of community and collaboration off the beaten path (and off the grid). Yoshie Akiba, the creator and namesake of Yoshie's, opened a tiny sushi bar in North Berkeley in 1972 with her two best friends Kaz Kajimura, a journalist and carpenter, and Hiroyuki Hori, a painter and Japanese cook. Yoshi's acquired a reputation as the Bay Area's top site for superb Japanese cuisine and jazz music over the following 40 years, becoming one of the world's most regarded jazz venues. Temescal Beach House is a historic lakeside event venue in Oakland's Temescal Regional Recreation Area, situated along the shores of Lake Temescal near the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 24. The structure was built by the Works Progress Administration and opened to the public in 1940, originally serving as changing facilities for park visitors and the original headquarters of the East Bay Regional Park District. Today the venue is managed by the East Bay Regional Park District and welcomes weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, fundraisers, and private celebrations. The Beach House offers two connected indoor rooms and a large outdoor flagstone patio. The Fireside Room seats up to 56 guests around a gas fireplace, while the adjoining Lakeview Meeting Room seats 24 and features large windows framing views of the calm lake. Together the rooms accommodate up to 80 guests seated or 130 standing. Sorensdale Recreation Center is a community event venue in Hayward, California, operated by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District. Located at 275 Goodwin Street in a quiet cul-de-sac setting near Tennyson High School, the center underwent a full renovation in 2016 and now offers a modern, welcoming environment for private events. The main hall accommodates up to 130 guests and features 20-foot ceilings, large windows that fill the space with natural light, and a commercial kitchen equipped with stainless steel surfaces. A stage and on-site parking round out the facility's event amenities. Sorensdale Recreation Center is available for a wide range of private gatherings — weddings, receptions, auctions, theatrical performances, and community celebrations alike.
