Point Fermin Park is a 37-acre coastal park operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, situated at the southernmost tip of San Pedro along the bluffs of West Paseo Del Mar. The park overlooks the Pacific Ocean, with clear-day views stretching to Santa Catalina Island and the Channel Islands. At its heart stands the Point Fermin Lighthouse, a Victorian-era redwood structure built in 1874 that ranks among the oldest surviving lighthouses on the West Coast. The grounds feature tree-shaded lawns, sheltered pergolas, colorful gardens, a small amphitheater, and a promenade tracing the edge of the palisade cliffs. Riva Grill on the Lake is a lakefront restaurant and event venue situated at Ski Run Marina in South Lake Tahoe, California. The venue takes its name from the legendary Riva runabout — the iconic Italian mahogany speedboats that have graced Tahoe's waters since the 1960s — and its design reflects that heritage through mahogany finishes, exposed beam ceilings, artistic lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake and surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. Two event configurations are available: the upstairs banquet rooms accommodate up to 220 seated guests and feature skylights, contemporary décor, and sliding glass door partitions that can open or close the space as needed. A full restaurant buy-out extends capacity to up to 400 guests and includes the waterfront deck. The pier at Ski Run Marina offers guests the rare option of arriving by boat, making the venue a distinctive choice for weddings and private celebrations on Lake Tahoe. In-house catering is provided exclusively through Riva Grill's kitchen, with a dedicated chef and banquet supervisor overseeing each event. ABOUT MENLO CIRCUS CLUB A group of young girls met on an Atherton Estate around 1920 to ride their horses and play. These girls created a "club" and decided to put on a circus for the delight of their parents, friends, and neighbors, as young children do. The mother of one of the girls, Mrs. W. B. Weir, offered that the revenues of the circus be donated to the Stanford Convalescent Home (now known as Lucile Packard Children's Hospital). The first circus was hosted on the W. B. Weir property at Middlefield Road and Glenwood Avenue in the summer of 1920. Youngsters rode their own horses and ponies, while others brought along pet cats, goats, and dogs that they had trained to perform stunts. The Stanford Convalescent Home received $500 from the first circus. The circus flourished the following year. Adults turned the circus into a social gathering, attracting visitors from as far north as San Francisco and south as San Jose. The circus grew in size, as did the social event, in the third year, and it became clear to parents that the circus had overrun the two fields. Land was purchased in the fall of 1922 for the creation of the Menlo Circus Club, which was formed the following year. Spreafico Farms sits on a working family-owned cattle and vegetable ranch in San Luis Obispo County, nestled among vineyards and rolling hills. The property is part of Rancho Corral de Piedra, a 30,911-acre Mexican land grant established in 1841, and is home to one of the oldest existing milking barns in the county — a structure that retains much of its original historic character while offering modern amenities for today's events. Three distinct spaces accommodate a range of gatherings on the property. The historic barn seats up to 180 guests on smooth concrete floors, the barn back patio extends the footprint with seating for an additional 130 guests on decomposed granite, and the hilltop ceremony area offers 360-degree panoramic views with a built-in rustic backdrop, stage, and pews.
