The Bayside Historical Society makes its home in The Castle, a Gothic Revival landmark building completed in 1887 as the Officers' Club for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Totten in Bayside, Queens. Designated a New York City landmark in 1974 and listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 1986, the building has served as the Society's base of operations since 1984 following a major restoration. The Castle is available for private site rentals including weddings, celebrations, and reunions, accommodating up to 125 guests. Spaces include a grand ballroom with waterfront views, a sunlit reception hall with cathedral ceilings, an intimate dining room with an adjoining gallery, and a first-floor board room. Le Fanfare is a lovely and welcoming original Italian restaurant and event venue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It serves traditional Italian cuisine. Le Fanfare, tucked away at the end of Manhattan Avenue and nestled amid the traditional Polish bakeries and butchers, serves modest Italian cuisine accompanied by live jazz music. The menu is complemented with an all-Italian wine list as well as classic drinks. Greenpoint was chosen as the location for their next project because the energy there was similar to that of Nolita fifteen years ago, according to the owners, jazz musician Luca Fadda, his wife Giorgia, and their long-time friend Nicola Paganelli (whose family owns the Meloni winery in their native Sardinia, Italy). Chef Adam Ross oversees the kitchen, which serves only the highest-quality foods that are presented in a straightforward and friendly manner. David Bouley was born and reared in the Connecticut town of Storrs. David's childhood spent on his grandparents' farm had a profound influence on him. Inspired by their French ancestors, he acquired a passion for preparing nutritious meals from scratch using well selected, freshly prepared components. David began working in restaurants at a young age, and has since lived on Cape Cod, in Sante Fe, and in France and Switzerland, among other places. His experience working with some of Europe's most recognized chefs, such as Roger Vergé, Paul Bocuse, Joel Robuchon, Gaston Lenôtre and Frédy Giradet, followed his studies at the Sorbonne University. After gaining valuable expertise, David went on to work in some of New York's most prestigious restaurants at the time, including Le Cirque, Le Périgord, and La Côte Basque, among others. He also worked as a sous chef in a San Francisco restaurant owned by Roger Vergé for a short period of time. David went on to become the chef of the Montrachet restaurant in TriBeCa when it first opened its doors in 1985. The New York Times published a three-star review of the restaurant shortly after it opened, attracting widespread notice. Private Dining Events and Catering provide us with opportunity to collaborate more intimately with our guests, as well as possibilities to share our passion for celebration in innovative and exciting new ways. The Metropolitan Building in New York City is the location of the wedding. Getting Married at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City – This location is magical. From the outside, it appears to be a typical brown stone factory building in the middle of the old and industrial part of LIC, Queens, which is typical of many places in New York City. When you walk through the door, you are transported to another century. Very vintage in appearance, and you can only imagine how many stories this wedding venue could have to tell given its over 100-year existence.
