Morgenthau Wing, an 82,000-square-foot addition unveiled in 2003, while the hexagonal Core building housing the Museum’s main exhibitions opened in 1997. Built in the 1890’s, this Brooklyn landmark played a huge role in the American Industrial Revolution. Once a rope factory producing twine and oakum for the shipyards along the East River, it was also the birthplace of the famous wartime ship, the USS Monitor. The Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse boasts the original brick and wood of the era and the building facade remains untouched from the 1890s. This raw and versatile landmark was recently restored with close attention paid to the details of the past and is now prime for your future event. The Faurschou Foundation was established in 2011 by Mr. Faurschou after decades as gallery owner focusing on international contemporary art. Faurschou New York and Chef Refslund represent a perfect partnership, as they compliment each other’s stunning collections of inspirations. Terroir represents the sum of natural forces: soil condition, sun, wind, and rain. When we eat food that expresses terroir, we feel connected to a particular area of land and sea, and its unique characteristics, and by extension, to the people that live there, their struggles and sensibilities. Thus, Chef Refslund’s menus feature a naturalistic and hyperseasonal cuisine, with a clearly defined focus on vegetables indigenous to the region, seasonal bounty and honoring the Earth’s cycles.
