The Clifton sits on 100 acres of Virginia countryside on the outskirts of Charlottesville, with views across the estate to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Jefferson's Monticello. The property's oldest building was constructed in 1799 as a colonial-style home for Thomas Jefferson's daughter Martha and her husband, Thomas Mann Randolph; the estate took the name "Clifton" from the Wyatt family later in the 19th century. In 2018, the current owners worked with the Blackberry Farm Design team to reimagine the inn's interiors, pairing historic character with a contemporary sensibility across the property's five late 18th- and early 19th-century buildings. Today The Clifton operates as a 20-room boutique hotel with a restaurant, bar and lounge, and wine cellar, along with an infinity pool and hot tub, a private lake, walking trails, a croquet lawn, and sprawling gardens including a chef's garden. The estate's mix of indoor rooms — among them the book-lined Library and the below-ground Wine Cellar — and outdoor settings such as the Front Lawn, Croquet Lawn, and a sailcloth Court Tent gives couples and planners a range of scales for ceremonies, receptions, and private dinners, from intimate gatherings to guest counts in the hundreds.

Set on 42 acres in Virginia's Piedmont wine country, The Inn at Willow Grove centers on a manor house built in 1778 by surveyor Joseph Clark and later expanded with brick additions and Jeffersonian columns by craftsmen who also worked for Thomas Jefferson. The estate carries a Civil War history, with trenches and gun emplacements once dug near the house and a cannonball still lodged in its eaves. Discovered by owner David Scibal in 2008 and renovated over two years, the property today blends historic preservation with an urban-meets-rustic aesthetic across 25 individually designed rooms and suites. For weddings and private events, the estate offers 6,400 square feet of combined indoor-outdoor space across The Barn, with its reclaimed wood ceilings, Palladian windows, and stone fireplace, and the adjoining open-air Ruins, framed by rebuilt stone foundations and covered by a custom tent with string lighting. The Hall offers a more intimate setting bathed in natural light for smaller seated dinners, while the Chef's Table provides a garden-level private dining room in the Manor House for up to 20 guests. Guests round out a stay with treatments at the Mill House Spa and seasonal dining at the Forbes Travel Guide four-star-rated Vintage Restaurant.

Belle Grove is a National Historic Landmark set in Virginia's northern Shenandoah Valley near Middletown. Its Federal-style limestone Manor House, completed in 1797 for Isaac Hite Jr. and his wife Nelly Madison Hite (sister of President James Madison), reflects design principles associated with Thomas Jefferson and features intricate, hand-carved woodwork. The plantation grew from an original 483 acres to roughly 7,500 acres through the labor of enslaved workers, and during the Civil War the property served as Union General Philip Sheridan's headquarters at the center of the 1864 Battle of Cedar Creek. Today Belle Grove operates as a National Trust for Historic Preservation site and the centerpiece of the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park, welcoming weddings, corporate gatherings, and private parties across several distinct settings. The Manor House hosts intimate ceremonies and receptions for up to 40 guests, the restored 1918 Beverley B. Shoemaker Welcome Center barn accommodates up to 150 guests with a catering kitchen and full handicap accessibility, and the 283-acre grounds offer gardens, lawns, and mountain views for outdoor ceremonies and tented receptions.

The Ballroom, inside the Manor House, features a hardwood floor, a crystal chandelier, and local artwork, while the adjoining Parlor offers a smaller, more intimate room with a baby grand piano. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley sits on 214 acres in Winchester, Virginia, making it the largest green space in the city and pairing a 50,000-square-foot museum building — designed by architect Michael Graves — with the historic Glen Burnie House and six acres of formal gardens. Glen Burnie House, built in 1794, was transformed into a refined home by Julian Wood Glass Jr. and R. Lee Taylor beginning in the 1950s before the museum itself opened in 2005 to share their collection with the public. For private events, the museum offers a range of indoor and outdoor spaces suited to gatherings of different sizes and styles. The beautifully renovated Glen Burnie House, with its formal Drawing Room, Library, and adjacent Terrace, suits an intimate dinner or cocktail reception, with access extended to the surrounding garden rooms. The Glen Burnie Gardens themselves offer settings from the Grand Allee to the more intimate Water Garden for ceremonies and receptions. Inside the museum, the wood-beamed Reception Hall and adjoining lobby and hallways can host larger cocktail-style events, while the Truist Learning Center and Carriage House Classroom provide smaller spaces for meetings, workshops, and luncheons. The museum is a site-only rental, so caterers, tents, and event equipment are arranged through outside vendors, including members of the Shenandoah Wedding Professionals group that the museum regularly partners with.
