The Strand's Rare Book Room is a perfect venue for weddings, celebrations, and private events. Spend your special evening surrounded by rare and antique books curated by Strand's resident experts. The Strand was established in 1927 on Fourth Avenue, in the heart of what was then known as "Book Row." Book Row was a six-block stretch of land that housed forty-eight independent bookstores. Ben Bass, the father, was only twenty-five years old when he started his modest used bookstore in his hometown of St. Louis. Entrepreneur at heart and voracious reader by nature, this erudite gentleman began with $300 dollars of his own money and another $300 dollars in borrowed funds from a friend. Ben wished to create a space where books would be cherished and book lovers could congregate in a welcoming environment. After the London street where avant-garde writers such as Thackeray, Dickens, and Mill once congregated as well as interesting book publishers, he named his bookstore after the same street. The Strand quickly established itself as a Greenwich Village institution, where writers gathered to converse, sell their books, and hunt for a hidden treasure to purchase and keep for themselves. Today, the Strand is the only remaining structure from Book Row's illustrious past. Ben's son, Fred, was already learning the ropes of the family business at the age of thirteen. He, too, was a book enthusiast who quickly entered the book trade. After serving his country in the Armed Forces, Fred returned home to New York, where he continued to work alongside his father in the family business. By 1957, Fred had relocated the store to its current location at 12th Street and Broadway, which is just around the corner. Eventually, Fred found himself spending the majority of his time at the purchasing desk, cultivating relationships with regulars and on the lookout for the next great find... In the following generation, Fred's daughter, Nancy, joined her father in the family business. When she finished college and spent a brief period in Louisiana, she returned to her hometown and joined the Strand team at the age of twenty-five. Today, she manages the store and feels privileged to be able to carry on her family's 90-year tradition. It's still up in the air whether one, two, or all three of Nancy's children will be the next in line to join the Strand organization.

Pine Hill Farm is a 23-acre event property in Burns, Tennessee, about 30 minutes outside Nashville. Once part of a 400-acre livestock operation divided when Interstate 40 was constructed in 1957, the land now offers 8 acres of open field that can host up to 500 guests for weddings, concerts, corporate retreats, festivals, and private celebrations of all kinds. At the heart of the property stands the original 1912 farmhouse — a 2,400-square-foot historic structure with modern updates that include a kitchen with quartz countertops, dual ovens, and a glass range. The farmhouse features a covered porch, a communal fire pit, separate preparation spaces for the wedding party, and a large bridal bathroom with a vintage tub. The Fern Lodge is a boutique waterfront inn set on 70 acres of wooded land bordering Friends Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Located in Chestertown roughly an hour and fifteen minutes north of Albany, the property offers five intimate guest rooms — each with a king-size bed, stone fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, and lake or mountain views — within a Great Room anchored by vaulted log ceilings and a central stone fireplace. For events, the lodge specializes in elopements, petit weddings, vow renewals, and honeymoons for parties of 2 to 20 guests. Hurd Orchards is a family-owned fruit and flower farm in Holley, New York, rooted in nearly 200 years of agricultural heritage. Situated in Western New York between the Erie Canal and Lake Ontario, the farm hosts weddings, showers, private luncheons, meetings, and birthday parties across two distinct spaces: a historic 1800s English Threshing Barn nestled between a sweet cherry orchard, and an 18th-century farmhouse suited for curated culinary dinners. Gatherings in the barn are set with fine antique china and silverware, unique linens, and seasonal floral displays, with menus built around what the farm is growing each season. The farm's preserves and products are made by hand using traditional, generations-old recipes. Owner Amy Machamer opens each event with a personal welcome and a lighthearted talk on the day's theme, giving guests a direct connection to the land and the food it produces.

The Pink Moon is the brainchild of floral designer Rebecca Shepherd. Rebecca has been in the floral industry for over a decade producing all kinds of events but specializing in weddings. She opened a retail flower shop 3 years ago and found that every single person that entered her store was stunned by the 25 foot tall ceilings, the massive chandelier and the general beauty of the space. Walk in customers would step right over a black rope that was put up for boundaries and look around the space in awe! This building, once an old door factory with two floors, was gutted by the architectural genius and landlord. These walls, this corner, this neighborhood married with the floral expertise of Rebecca and her team have led her to open this very special, unique and intimate space. The Mouzon House is a restored 1883 Victorian estate in Saratoga Springs, New York, offering boutique private events anchored in New Orleans-inspired, farm-to-table cuisine. The property carries a rich history: Ardelle Mouzon-McCoy acquired the home in 1919 and successfully fought its demolition during 1970s urban renewal with support from her church and Skidmore College professors. The Pedinotti family later purchased and restored the house to its original 1883 aesthetic, adding interior murals depicting both family histories and garden imagery. The estate accommodates up to 60 guests for a seated dinner in its largest single room, and up to 120 for cocktail-style receptions across the full house — which includes private dining rooms, a wraparound porch, and a large open-air covered patio. The venue suits boutique weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, showers, birthday celebrations, and family reunions. Menus are customized to each event with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, craft cocktails, and wine pairings. The Madoo Conservancy's gardens will reopen to the public on Friday, April 29, following a two-week closure. Our beautiful, safe space will be ready to welcome you and your family and friends on a first-come, first-served basis; however, appointments will be required. A third open day during the summer has been added, as has our contemporary art exhibition program, and the grounds at Madoo have continued to be improved.
