Established in 1859 by William and Mary Menger on Alamo Plaza, the Menger Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. The hotel began as a two-story, fifty-room property built to house guests of Menger's adjoining brewery, and grew through a series of additions, including the 1881 acquisition by Major J.H. Kampmann, who added new wings and the hotel's famed cherry-wood bar, modeled after the taproom of London's House of Lords Club. That bar, now known as the Menger Bar, is where Theodore Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders, and it remains a centerpiece of the hotel's Victorian-era lobby, filled with museum-quality artifacts and Renaissance-revival detailing from a 1909 renovation. Richard and Shea Lyn bought the historic house and land in 2008 and turned it into Texas' most unusual wedding venue. Benbrook Stables is one of North Texas' best horse boarding facilities. We exclusively provide high-quality grains and hays to our animals. Whole oats, barley, corn, and oil make up our grain. It has a protein content of 9%, a fat content of 6%, and a fiber content of 6%. There are no by-products or processed by-products in this product. Our hay comes from irrigated farms in Texas and is of the highest quality. Individual stalls with shavings, various secure meadows for daily turnout, a 110 x 330 lighting arena, a smaller lighted riding arena, two round pens, and over 30 miles of gorgeous trails surround Lake Benbrook are just a few of our amenities. In order to use the patio chairs, the client is responsible for renting their own chairs. Cottonwood is a 7200 square foot barn venue with white wood plank walls and big chandeliers that add to the magnificent mood. Our 70-foot outdoor balcony overlooks 80 acres of undulating hills and 100-year-old hardwoods. Cottonwood Barn Venue is a beautiful white barn set in the countryside of Paris, Texas. This property has 85 acres of beautiful natural terrain and a 7,500-square-foot barn. Couples and their guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the lake from the barn balcony or the 20x20 pier in the background, which is surrounded by magnificent hardwoods. Overnight lodging is only 4 miles away, and Dallas is only an hour and a half away.
