Old Economy Village is a historic site in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, that preserves the legacy of the Harmony Society, a 19th-century religious community founded by George Rapp. Its centerpiece is a two-acre garden established in 1824, laid out in a formal style inspired by German monastery grounds and palace courtyards Rapp encountered before emigrating from Germany, and still planted with vineyards, heirloom vegetables, roses, and other perennial flowering ornamentals along stone pathways and a stone pavilion. The village opens several of its historic buildings and grounds for private events, including weddings, galas, fundraisers, birthday parties, corporate meetings, and photography sessions. The George Rapp Garden hosts garden ceremonies from mid-April through mid-October, while the Feast Hall, a communal dining and music space built in 1827 on the second floor of the Natural History Museum building, and the first floor of the five-story Granary barn offer indoor options for receptions and gatherings of varying sizes. A modern Visitor Center classroom rounds out the venue's spaces for smaller meetings and events. For groups and private events, the park offers a dedicated Duckpin Bowling Private Suite that seats up to 20 guests across two lanes with multiple TVs, suited to smaller birthday parties or casual meetings. Larger groups can book the Duckpin Bowling Private Lanes, which reserves all eight lanes along with two hours of video game access for up to 150 guests. For smaller gatherings and cocktail hours, the Lounge offers a more flexible 35-to-55-guest space with its own full-service bar and rich decor. Outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hours can also be held in the property's private, level, wooded grove, just steps from the reception space. Husband-and-wife team Ryan and Valerie Sarel now lead the venue, continuing its long history in the area. Sewickley Heights Golf Club was founded in 1961 by five passionate golfers, including Harton "Bud" Semple and William George and the Oliver brothers, on land that had once been slated for airport development. Architect Jim Harrison transformed the site into a championship-caliber course, and the club went on to make its mark in competitive golf, hosting the U.S. Women's Amateur in 1966 and the Champion's Tour Pittsburgh Senior Classic in 1998, with past visitors including Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Hale Irwin, Raymond Floyd, and Lee Trevino. That backdrop makes Seven Oaks a longstanding setting for weddings and private events. The club offers space for up to 300 guests across three banquet rooms, along with golf course views, outdoor ceremony and photo locations, and a private bridal suite. Operated by Hampton Banquet Hall, the center has been recommended as a special-occasion facility in the tri-state area for many years and hosts wedding receptions, anniversaries, showers, business meetings, and reunions. The centerpiece is the Grand Room, a 4,600-square-foot banquet space with an 18-foot coffered ceiling, alabaster lighting, cherry wainscot, and a 720-square-foot parquet dance floor that seats up to 320 guests for dinner or 500 theater-style.
