"Café Basque Los Angeles is a love letter. Straddling the borders of France and Spain, wedged between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic, the Pays Basque (Basque Country) is fiercely independent and culturally and linguistically distinct from anywhere in the world. The cooking is joyful, generous and uncomplicated. Overflowing with excellent local products from the mountains and the sea, it has the particularity of being marked by the use of sweet and mildly hot peppers. Named after a town in the mountains above the port of St Jean de Luz, Espelette peppers were imported from central and south America in the 16th century and are a cornerstone of Basque cuisine in the same way that the American tomato has defined a large part of Italian cooking. Meanwhile, amid this rich culture and history, the Basque coast has been one of the world’s great surf destinations since the 1960s. Someone who writes a love letter is not necessarily a specialist on the subject and I do not pretend to be a specialist in Basque cooking. My love affaire is with France and its regions which have been an infinite source of inspiration to me for more than 20 years. Designed by Kelly Wearstler and operated by Proper Hospitality, Filifera Hollywood is a new addition to the Hollywood scene and features expertly-crafted cocktails and light California fare, which means you can customize an event menu including both categories. At night and on weekends, Filifera Hollywood will play host to a regular calendar of programming and events including special culinary experiences, film screenings and live music. Residing 22 stories above Hollywood, Filifera is a picturesque venue for holiday events, birthday parties and other special events. Filifera offers full rooftop buyouts, as well as buyouts of smaller pockets of the space (indoor bar, outdoor lounge, or both). City Market South breathes new life into the oldest wholesale produce market in Los Angeles, bringing world-class dining and cocktails, one-of-a-kind retail and Class-A creative office space to distinct buildings that all surround an open central plaza. Each space has been reimagined for the demanding business, adamant that the space they inhabit is a reflection of who they are, what they do and the quality of what they produce. City Market South is 75,000 SF of vintage, brick and bow truss warehouses and open plan concrete structures on 2.5 acres at the southern end of the original City Market wholesale produce center. The City Market of Los Angeles was founded in 1909 as a cooperative of farmers seeking a central distribution center in Los Angeles. These same founding families maintain ownership and control of the company to this day.
