For decades, our family has farmed and ranched in southern Oklahoma. With deep roots in the community, we've held a number of events in the neighborhood throughout the years. We were grabbing at straws for sites to host an engagement party, bridal showers, and rehearsal dinner when we scheduled a large family wedding in January of 2015. There were few and far between possibilities. We knew we weren't the only ones who felt this way! The necessity for new venues to serve Ardmore, Madill, Tishomingo, and the surrounding area was discussed and debated at that time. We thought we might have just the property after some brainstorming and a lot of imagination. The transformation of the existing horse barn into The Stables at Washita Farms has been a true labor of love. Every member of our immediate family has been involved in the decision-making process, and many hours of physical labor have been put in as well. Our goal for The Stables was to keep the original barn's equestrian style while adding some exquisite accents and features. Ceremonies and receptions can be held on the pond banks, manicured lawn, or covered front porch. Dr. Walter Cleo "W.C." Roper, a Waco, Texas dentist, bought the 4R Ranch in 1992 with his wife Suzanne and two sons, Walt and Chris, who are now the owners of 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery. The 4R Gasthaus is a restaurant in Berlin, Germany. A tiny house stands at the entrance to 4R Ranch for weekend rentals and family of event hosts or brides and grooms marrying on the grounds. Joel Rogers, a USMC veteran who served in the mid-80s in Hawaii, Japan, and on the DMZ in South Korea, is originally from Oklahoma. He has worked as a firefighter for the City of Fort Worth for the past 30 years after being honorably retired from the military in 1986. Julie Rogers, a native of California, spent her early years in the business world, including several years with The Walt Disney Company, where she planned and handled a variety of large-scale corporate special events, parties, and offsite meetings. Julie is also a talented photographer and flower designer with over 25 years of experience breeding Arabian show horses.
